'X-Men: Apocalypse' is an upcoming action-adventure superhero film in the X-Men saga. Sophie Turner, who plays the new Jean Grey, may have spoiled a major plot point by posting a video that mimicked Storm's abilities. It led to several speculations of Jean Grey and Storm swapping powers. Oscar Isaac promised that his Apocalypse will be the best X-Men villain to be adapted on big-screen.
According to Comic Book, Sophie Turner posted some images on her personal Instagram account mimicking Alexandra Shipp's Storm. It showed a self-video littered with special effects containing one of Storm's signature moves when she conjures up her ability to control the weather. One of the images was captioned "@alexandrashipppp playing you #storm #xmenapocalypse".
Her post led to several speculations of Jean Grey and Storm swapping powers but no one can say for sure. Turner, best known for her role as Sansa in television's 'Game of Thrones', has been cast as a young Jean Grey. Her latest character is famous in the comic books as a mutant with telepathic and telekinetic abilities.
An article by Moviepilot suggested that 'X-Men: Apocalypse' will be the final chapter in the popular saga that was first released in the year 2000. It is considered the ninth installment in the cinematic franchise based on Marvel's characters in the comic books. Perhaps mutants swapping powers would add to the thrilling culmination of the series.
It was reported that swapping of powers is often featured in the comic books. For example, Rogue is best known for inheriting powers since it is her natural ability to do so. Psylocke also gained ninja powers by body-swapping with the Japanese Kwannon.
Meanwhile, Oscar Isaac joined the cast as the titular supervillain Apocalypse. According to Screen Rant, the Golden Globe nominee gushed about taking on a god-like character for the big-screen saying that his Apocalypse definitely stands out from previous powerful antagonists. He said, "I was excited about it. I was excited to explore those worlds. There is something more mythical ... basically, you're playing God. It's a challenge."
'X-Men: Apocalypse' is the follow-up film for 2014's 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' and is scheduled for release on May 27, 2016. It also stars Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Evan Peters, Jennifer Lawrence, Rose Byrne, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, Olivia Munn, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, Ben Hardy, Lucas Till, and Kodi Smit-McPhee.
