'Captain America: Civil War' is an upcoming superhero film that would feature Tom Holland as the latest young Peter Parker a.k.a. Spider-Man. Holland accidentally hurt himself on the set of the new film. Elizabeth Olsen, who joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as Scarlet Witch, called her character a "wildcard".
According to IGN, Holland was on the set of the newest installment in the 'Captain America' series when he tripped and fell. He said, "No, no violence. It was my own mistake... I basically fell over and bashed my face in front of about two hundred crew members, so not my most heroic moment!... It was luckily just before my last shot; they were like, 'Roll cameras!,' I was getting into position, everything went wrong, and they still did the take anyway. It looks great and they'll probably just CGI out all the blood, and yeah, I was very lucky."
As the newest actor filling in Spider-Man's shoes, Holland hoped to find inspiration from past actors who portrayed the iconic web slinger. Toby Maguire played Spider-Man in the 2002 Sam Raimi adaptation and its subsequent follow-ups while Andrew Garfield starred in the 2012 'The Amazing Spider-Man' reboot by Marc Webb as well as its sequel. According to Hey U Guys, Holland will draw inspiration from the two.
Although Holland's role in 'Captain America: Civil War' hasn't been elaborated further, previous reports stated that it won't be an origin film. The 19-year old English actor is best known for his portrayal of the title role in 'Billy Elliot the Musical' as well as his recent appearance in 'In the Heart of the Sea' where he played a young Thomas Nickerson.
Meanwhile, the addition of Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch has drawn much anticipation as well as speculation from Marvel fans. According to Screen Rant, her character will be bringing the realm of magic and the supernatural into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Olsen teased, "[Scarlet Witch is] someone who's more powerful than she's able to control and she ends up going insane because of it. And she's like a wildcard. You never know [if] she's a hero or a villain, and that's a very fun part."
'Captain America: Civil War' is the sequel to 2014's 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' and will feature the return of Chris Evans in the title role. The film, directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, is scheduled to be released in theaters on May 6, 2016.
