USA Network’s hit summer series, Mr. Robot, ended its first season with quite a blast last September. Now being labeled as one of the breakout shows this year, fans are eagerly waiting to get the dish abound in the second season. Luckily, showrunner and creator Sam Esmail together with the cast offered hints earlier this month, teasing an even darker second season and a high chance of a romantic arc for lead character, Elliot (Rami Malek).
Actress Portia Doubleday, who plays Angela, has previewed that the new bunch of episodes will up the ante in bringing the inherent madness of the show.
“I heard it’s pretty dark, the second season,” she said in a report from Deadline.
Co-star Carly Chaikin, who plays Darlene, has shared that Mr. Robot season two will finally tell its viewers how Darlene and her crew have set up FSociety together. As expected, fans may now look forward to back stories from different angles of the show next year.
Romantic plots are also being forecasted in the upcoming sophomore run of Mr. Robot. Creator and showrunner Sam Esmail has allowed in a report from The Huffington Post that Elliot and Angela’s “will they or will they not” storyline may be revisited once the show returns.
Lead star Rami Malek strayed a bit from all the seriousness of Mr. Robot, sharing that he wants to see Elliot eat something next season. Adding that should USA grants the show more renewals, he wants to see his mentally-disturbed character get a “neat bottle episode”.
In another interview with the cast, it has been learned by Entertainment Weekly that the major players in the show struggle a little bit with the tone of the show.
“It’s hard to not get lost in it. I think the biggest thing is having each other,” Chaikin shared.
Mr. Robot is the latest TV offering of Sam Esmail which debuted this summer in USA Network. It follows the journey of Elliot, a hacker who was consumed by his mission to take down an evil corporation. After a successful first run, the show’s cast and showrunner have shared that the second season will get even darker while also teasing that romantic angles will be tackled.
USA Network has yet to announce the official premiere date of Mr. Robot season 2.
