Apart from its frugal back-to-school and Black Friday sales, Apple has never been a believer of bundle discounts, that is until today. The brand’s stores are now offering Apple Watch or Apple Watch Sport at $50 off if they purchase any new iPhone.
Spotted first on Macrumors, an Apple representative has confirmed the validity of this report, but added that the offer is only available in a handful of stores around the Bay Area and Boston from October 30th through November 15th, says The Verge.
It is popularly viewed that this move is a means to ‘test the waters’ and see if the sales promotion may boost Apple Watch sales in any way. If proven to work, it is most likely to see this promo go country-wide, possibly even world-wide (though not very probable).
Tech Crunch further adds that the promo is only available for non-luxury watches, and the more high end Apple Watches — Edition and Hermès — are not a part of the promotion. Furthermore, the promo cannot be availed by those people who purchased their iPhones earlier than October 30th, and the promo can only be availed if one decides to purchase the iPhone 6s or iPhone6s Plus together with the Apple Watch at the same time.
Apple’s decision has sparked speculations to whether Apple Watch is bringing in the results that the giant tech company expected it would, says Bidness Etc. After all, why bring in a sale when they’ve never done one before?
The bigger question now going around is whether Apple will continue to bring in more short term promos and sales, or if this will be a once-in-a-blue-moon move or possibly even be a move they’ll never do again.
Apple has not given further comments to their plans when it comes to implementing sales promotion strategies for their premium products.
