Samsung Gear S2 Specs, Price: Device Available At Verizon and T-Mobile Beginning November; Will it rival Apple Watch?

Samsung has once again outdone itself, but this time with a wristwatch that goes beyond analogue and digital. The Samsung Gear S2 is a smart watch that packs a lot of oomph and presents a variety of innovation that even challenges Apple Watch. Aesthetics and function wise, this wearable device is an elegant piece of technology which customers can already snag via Verizon and T-Mobile on November.

Product release speculations were raised last September 2015 when leaked pictures of the smart watch were presented and teasers were shown depicting the wearable both as a fashion statement and a techological innovation. The Samsung Gear S2 is currently selling in the US with Verizon and T-Mobile being its exclusive carriers. It is retailing at $300.00 and $350.00 for the modern S2 and the classic S2, respectively.

Going back to Samsung Gear S2, the electronics giant made huge improvements on this wearable having learned from their failures according to Chris Velazco of Engadget. Velazco cited many admirable changes to the smart watch such as being round-shaped (as compared to their earlier iterations featuring a square-shaped face), having a rotating bezel allowing users to navigate the smart watch menus, and, more importantly, the Samsung Smart Gear S2 is now working with non-Samsung smartphones which is a big plus.

In addition to these smart innovations, the Samsung Gear S2 will be running on Tizen (the same OS governing current Samsung smart televisions). This alone makes the watch a more intuitive wearable to engage with. One thing noted by Velazco, however, is the watch straps slide and lock into grooves built into the wearable's lugs (or small socket holes). This makes replacing the watch straps somewhat cumbersome and one can purchase these unique straps only from Samsung, he added.

Moreover, the smart watch sports a dual-core processor with 512 MB RAM. All in all, fantastic software, good battery life, excellent overall user experience, and fine elegance all combine in making this preppy wearable a good choice to many, Velazco later on commented.

Still on the Samsung Gear S2, telecommunications giants Verizon and T-Mobile announced they will be the smart watch official carriers. This comes as good news since this indicates the Gear 2 is ready for the public as Menchie Mendoza of Tech Tmes hinted at.

Adding more to this interesting information, Mendoza said that both carriers are already accepting pre-orders for the Samsung Gear 2 with Verizon commanding a price tag between $299.99 and $349.99 for a two-year contract and an off-contract, respectively and T-Mobile commanding a $359.99 for a full retail price.

Other mobile charges will also be enforced depending on the respective carrier service plans, she further added.

And finally for Samsung Gear S2, the innovative wearable is doing well in the US. This is according to Paul Lamkin of Wearable and he also mentioned in passing that many are awaiting for a Samsung Gear 2 with 3G and GPS connectivity to arrive. Details are yet to be provided regarding this smart watch version; however, pricing plans have already been drawn up pumping expectations for a product launch very soon.

Samsung Gear S2 ups the ante in smart watches and learning from past mistakes places this wearable in a position to edge itself from the competition. While Samsung might not be open to admitting competing with Apple, it is quite apparent that the former's wearable is poised towards outsmarting the latter's watch since these two are the most dominant players in the smart watch technology niche.

T-Mobile and Verizon will offer the Gear S2 on November 15 and November 6, respectively.
