'Fifty Shades Darker' may finally be pushing onward with pre-production as teased by author E.L. James on her social media account. The film was reportedly stuck in a developmental rut due to several delays. James Foley was tagged as a replacement director for Sam Taylor-Johnson who exited the series.

E.L. James posted an image on her Instagram account of what looked to be Michael de Luca's nameplate captioned "#working". According to International Business Times, de Luca is one of the producers rumored to return for the upcoming film. Another Instagram image read "Fun times... Fun times... @foleyfilm @noghar @dana_brunetti @mdeluca13", which showed the team of writers and producers during a meeting.

According to the Inquisitr, delays have been plaguing development for the sequel since its announcement. Reasons behind the troubles include rumored casting difficulties as well as the search for a director to replace Sam Taylor-Johnson who exited the project after finishing work on the first film. Previous reports revealed that Taylor-Johnson didn't want to continue with the series after clashes with the author who wanted more control.

The forward development may be due to director James Foley's recent involvement in the second film in the erotic series. According to Melty, Foley will be helming 'Fifty Shades Darker' and has even met lead actress Dakota Johnson shortly after negotiations were finalized. The American film director has worked on several drama and thriller films including 'After Dark, My Sweet', 'Glengarry Glen Ross', 'Fear', 'Reckless' and 'Perfect Stranger'.

'Fifty Shades Darker' is an upcoming sequel to the 2015 blockbuster hit based on the erotic novel by E.L. James. It is scheduled to be released on February 10, 2017. Johnson will be reprising her role as Anastasia Steele while Jamie Dornan returns to play Christian Grey. The first film, 'Fifty Shades of Grey', is currently the seventh highest-grossing film of 2015. Despite earning generally negative reviews, it earned $570 million at the box office.
