Thor: Ragnarok will feature the return of Asgardian gods Loki, Thor, along with Lady Sif and the green giant, Hulk. However, speculations suggest that the Warriors Three might not appear as Zachary Levi and Ray Stevenson revealed that they have not been asked for the project yet. New plot rumors also claim that a new Asgardian heroine could be making a big screen debut in the final installment for the series.
With Loki sitting in the throne, posing as Odin, the previous film left queries about what would happen to the land of the Asgardians. But one of the most persistent questions left is the whereabouts of the real Odin. According to Movie Pilot, he could have been put into Odinsleep by Loki and hid him somewhere.
But during the release of The Dark World, Anthony Hopkins said that he will not reprise his role in Thor: Ragnarok. "[Odin is] dead. I've done two [films]. That's enough", Hopkins said. Aside from Odin, the Warriors Three's involvement is also not sealed yet, as Zachary Levi and Ray Stevenson revealed that they haven't received any calls from Marvel yet.
Levi and Stevenson have expressed their interest in reprising their roles as Fandral and Volstagg respectively. But with Lady Sif's return confirmed a couple of weeks ago, the fact that they haven't received a phone call could be a bad sign for those who adore the trio.
Moreover, as reported by Cinemablend, the sword and spear weilding Asgardian heroine, Valkyrie is also heavily linked to the project. It remains to be seen what role Valkyrie will play in the upcoming feature's plot, but it is reported that the studio is currently looking for an actress that will fit the role.
The plot for Thor: Ragnarok is currently undisclosed although Feige previously revealed that it will play a vital role in the events of MCU's Phase 3. According to Latino-Review, Mark Ruffalo hinted that the movie will have an 'antagonistic Odd Couple-thing going on'.
"But I don't know any of the particulars quite yet. I've talked to [director Taika Waititi] a little bit and I like where it's headed. ... Chris (Hemsworth) and I have a really good time together, we goof off and play around when Tom Hiddleston is around. So it'll be a lot of funny back-and-forth, especially with Taika, he does that really well. It'll have that kind of antagonistic Odd Couple-thing going on", Ruffalo said.
Thor: Ragnarok still has nearly 2 years before its theatrical release which explains its lack of official plot details, but more information are expected to be revealed when production progress. It will be directed by Taika Waititi, and is currently slated for a November 03, 2017 release date.
