'Six Billion Dollar Man' Mark Wahlberg teams up with Damian Szifron to release movie by end of 2017

After a year of speculations if it will happen, the 'Six Billion Dollar Man' finally gets updates. Replacing Peter Berg, Damian Szifron will direct Mark Wahlberg in the movie. The Weinstein Company (TWC) also penciled a December 2017 release for the film.

The Weinstein Company announced Monday that Szifron will replace Peter Berg as director of the 'Six Billion Dollar Man'. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film adaptation of the classic 1970 television show will hit theatres 22 December 2017. Szifron was originally screenwriting the film.

Szifron further gushed on how a "fantastic ride" writing the screenplay was. Working together with Wahlberg and the producers, the director assures that the 'Six Billion Dollar Man' will be "simply spectacular."

Cinema Blend reported that Szifron is set to begin shooting in September 2016. The Weinsteins also stated that Szifron's "unique vision and longtime passion for this story" will create a new take on the story for today's audiences. We are excited to release the film during the holidays to bring audiences an explosive re-imagining of this cultural icon.

Wahlberg echoed the excitement on making the TV classic into big screen material, saying he is "thrilled to assemble The 'Six Billion Dollar Man' with of Weinstein and Szifron. The 44-year-old actor is slated to play Steve Austin, a military officer who suffers an almost-fatal accident and is brought back to life by cutting edge technology. As Austin gains extraordinary abilities, he becomes the world's first bionic man and becomes part of a top secret government program.

Meanwhile, as shooting is still far off the calendar, Wahlberg has been busy with guestings. On his most recent appearance on The Ellen Show, the 'Six Billion Dollar Man' actor himself shared his latest movie,his fitness routine and his personal life. He remarked that he keeps fit through his exercise and food routines, especially for his movie 'Daddy's Home.'

The 'Six Billion Dollar Man' star also shared that his wife is happy seeing him "wear a wife beater around the house and walk around with a hammer or a screwdriver." He further explained that he pretends to be a handyman fixing things to make his wife happy.

While the 'Six Billion Dollar Man' is still be two years away, Wahlberg fans can catch him on TV shows for his next movie. More updates can be expected before Szifron and Wahlberg start filming on September 2016.
