'Kingsman: The Secret Service 2' is an upcoming action-adventure film intended as a sequel to 2015's successful box office hit. It is set to begin shooting on April 2016. Rising star Taron Egerton, who plays young spy recruit Eggsy Unwin, has a busy schedule coming up as he is also cast in 'Robin Hood: Origins' and 'Billionaire Boys Club'.
According to Digital Spy, the second installment in the comedy spy series is set to begin filming in spring next year. The first film's director Matthew Vaughn is currently working on the new script. Vaughn has yet to confirm whether he will be returning to helm the sequel but he hinted at the possibility despite having never done so with other previous films.
Egerton became one of the industry's breakout stars after appearing as a young rebellious Londoner recruited into the secret spy agency alongside Colin Firth, Mark Strong and Michael Caine. He also worked on another of Vaughn's projects earlier in the year as Britain's first Olympic ski jumper Eddie "The Eagle" Edwards.
The 25-year old actor has several new projects up his sleeve as well. According to Coming Soon, he was cast as the lead protagonist in 'Robin Hood: Origins' and it lead to some scheduling conflicts with his April filming for 'Kingsman: The Secret Service 2'. However, the other film was eventually pushed back to prioritize 'Kingsman'.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Egerton is also attached to star in a remake of 'Billionaire Boys Club' with 'Fault In Our Stars' leading man Ansel Egort. The upcoming film will be directed by James Cox of 'Wonderland' fame and is a reboot of a 1987 film that followed the true story of a group of manipulative wealthy men involved in murder.
'Kingsman: The Secret Service 2' is a planned spy film based on the comic books created by Dave Gibbons and Mark Millar. It is scheduled to be released on June 16, 2017. The preceding film earned $414 million against an $81 million budget, according to Box Office Mojo.
