Samsung Will Soon Roll Out Android 6.0 Marshmallow to Galaxy S6, Note 5, S5, and Note 4

Google will be rolling out Android 6.0 Marshmallow to Samsung devices such as Galaxy S6, Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S5, and Galaxy Note 4 with its variants. Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T and Sprint are the first carriers who will issue the new OS version once it is available for public use. As part of the new software version, Android OEMs has the ability to deliver updates faster than before because of the changes in the software update process.

As usual, software update is released both via over-the-air message and KIES. According to Android Geeks, a message will appear in the notification panel with the information of new system update when the servers are pushed to the user's terminal. The report added that users can just follow the steps on the screen in order to complete the installation. Another option to check for the update is by going to Settings, then About phone, hit System updates, and Check now for updates.

Related report also mentioned that only devices that run official Android build are entitled to receive the update through KIES or OTA. Though, users must install the update by utilizing the ODIN Tool in the event that the device is in custom ROM or has changed OS.

On the other hand, T-Mobile customers who received the recent OS update in Samsung Note 5 seem to have more expectation in the upcoming Android 6.0. Android Central noted that customers are looking forward to experience more security fixes, Samsung At Work enhancements and battery life improvements. Android Geeks reported that the new Android OS offer Doze technology which will enable the phone to go in deeper sleep state upon prolonged inactivity.

In addition, Marshmallow promises to improve the function of Google Now which will enable contextual information to show on the screen. The new Android OS also offers fingerprint scanner that adds security to the phone. Users need not to worry for important files as the Android 6.0 automatically saves data for up to 25MB.

Samsung did not provide any information on when it will issue the new Android OS to its customers. Google has not given any announcement yet on the exact date of release of the Marshmallow.
