A new Android 5.1.1 Lollipop inspired firmware ROM has been released for Samsung Galaxy Note - the signature phablet by the South Korean company back in 2014.
The SimplROM is based on the official Samsung firmware version 5.1.1, but with all of the bloatware removed. This is actually better in a way given that this allows decluttering of storage space and RAM usage, says International Business Times.
Some notable features that are found in the custom ROM are the removal of the Knox app,
Zip alignment, an exclusive SimplTool, a deodexed ROM to enhance the performance of the device, MultiDPI apps and numerous other value added features to make the Galaxy Note 4 better.
The ROM is apparently safe to use, as confirmed by Latinos Post, and Samsung Note 4 owners are eager what the 5.1.1- based ROM that will bring better phone user experience. Of course, like any other custom-built ROM, this one has requirements that have to be met.
Team Android further states that the ROM uses Emotional Kernel r22 rc4 which give the firmware rock solid stability. ROM downloading page and instructions for installation are also available on Team Android's website.
The SimplROM Android 5.1.1 Lollipop firmware will only function on a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 that is an international LTE model (SM-N910F) and it's ideal to check if the phone matches that identity. Users can do so by going to Settings > About Phone > Model of Device.
Aside from that, devices to receive the ROM should be rooted, backed up, equipped with Clockwork Mod, connected to a PC and charged up to 80%. Since this is a custom ROM application, it's ideal with a device that has no warranty.
It has also been confirmed that Samsung Galaxy Note 4 will actually be receiving an update for Android 6.0 by the first half of 2016, so for those who want to wait to receive the latest updates can also do so.
