It's been nearly two months since Android 6.0 Marshmallow first came out with the latest Nexus phones. Samsung devices are still waiting to receive the update, although reports are strongly suggesting that the firmware from the South Korean-based phone builders are coming soon. Maybe even this month.
Recent reports, as shared by Latinos Post, said that the Samsung Galaxy S5 from Verizon is being readied for the Marshmallow firmware testing. While no details were given as to when it would be coming out, the carrier has enumerated the testing process that the firmware will go through.
Samsung S5 is expected to receive some unique and small improvements to its experience. With the latest firmware update, the phone is expected to get an easier cut, copy and paste selection and improvements to the Chrome browser, says Yibada.
The Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for Samsung Galaxy S5, Galaxy S6, Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy Note 4, will bring a range of new enhancements and features to the phone. One of the most anticipated features is the new app permissions system, which gives apps permission to perform functions only when the user allows it. According to Android Geeks, This permssion granting can be done on a per-app basis.
The firmware update will also promise better battery life through its new Doze mode. Android Marshmallow also offers better contextualized information via Google Now On Tap, made available by long pressing the home button. Other features to be expected are deep linking and fingerprint reader support.
Samsung Galaxy S5 sports a 5.1 inch display with 1080 x 1920 pixels (432 ppi pixel density) resolution. The handset runs on a Qualcomm MSM8974AC Snapdragon 801 chipset with Quad-core 2.5 GHz Krait 400 in power.
No release date to the general public yet, but users can expect it to come by early next year.
