After the boom of the video game trilogy, "The Witcher" will now be adapted into a Hollywood movie. But as early as now, the movie adaptation is facing a comparison competition with another film.

According to the Collider, the Sean Daniel Company will be joining forces with Platige Film for the development of the upcoming movie franchise. SDC was best known for the progress of the Mummy series, The Expanse TV series, and the Ben-Hur remake.

Coming Soon reported that "The Witcher" movie adaptation will be a presentation to Geralt "The Witcher" and his fights with men and beasts. Geralt is an itinerant hunter for hire. Based on the novel series of Andrzej Sapkowski, the film will be a debut for the movie series franchise.

Furthermore, Game Spot noted that Geralt of Rivia will be the main character as the producers revealed in a press release. However, the movie will not totally follow the novels or games but instead it will be based on the short stories from Sapkowski's "The Last Witch" collection.

Under the direction of the Oscar Award nominee Tomasz Baginski (The Cathedral), Thania St. John (Grimm, Chicago Fire) will be standing as the screenwriter. Jarosław Sawko, Piotr Sikora, Sean Daniel, and Jason Brown will be joining them as the producers.

While the casting procedures remain unannounced, the title of the upcoming film has not yet been unveiled. Sources say the future project has now faced comparisons with the enormously renowned "Game of Thrones". Without further details and reasons, the comparisons remain a mystery.

Back in 2001, a Polish film has released the first feature film for The Witcher movie following a thirteen episode TV series. "The Witcher" video adaptation was developed by Polish studio CD Projekt Red but they are speculated to have no involvement with the new film.

The studio has not yet released further details about the new franchise. However, "The Witcher" movie adaptation is expected to be out in 2017.
