'Big Bang Theory' Season 9 Update: Sheldon’s plan to propose backfired; How did ‘Shamy’ shippers react?

Last Thursday’s episode of "The Big Bang Theory" not only paid a tribute to Leonard Nimoy and his legacy as Spock, but also allowed for Sheldon Cooper to finally reveal his true feelings about Amy. The episode titled, “The Spock Resonance,” made a strong impact to the fans, so much that they quickly offered their thoughts and feelings about the episode in social media.

The Nov. 5th installment of "The Big Bang Theory" made a surprising twist in the middle of Sheldon’s interview with Adam Nimoy, who made a guest appearance for a documentary he was working on about his late father, Leonard Nimoy.

After revealing to his friends that he almost proposed to Amy but instead got dumped, viewers found Sheldon yelling his frustrations about the recent split.

Later, he decided to just go to Amy’s place and propose to her once and for all, stressing that if she says yes, then they can move forward. Unfortunately, the plan went south. Sheldon saw Amy kissing another guy by the doorstep of her apartment, leaving Sheldon disappointed. No wedding proposal occurred to the fans’ dismay. Entertainment Weekly wrote the recap on Thursday.

In the aftermath of Sheldon’s heart getting crushed into pieces, the Big Bang Theory fandom and Amy/Sheldon shippers shared their reaction through social media.

One fan commented via Twitter, “'The Spock Resonance' was both funny and heartbreaking, while giving a thumbs up to the performance of Jim Parsons."

“Jim Parson's acting is PHENOMENAL! And last he night proved it,” she enthused.

Another follower of the Chuck Lorre-produced comedy shared his feelings about what just happened to our favorite scientist.

On Friday, he wrote on Twitter: “I'm sad for Sheldon #BigBangTheory.”

To this end, it will be interesting to see how this new development will mean for Amy and her relationship with Sheldon. Now that she’s clearly dating a new guy, it remains to be seen if she’ll be taking Sheldon’s “grand gesture” as a signal to reconcile and up their status to the next level.

Although CBS has not yet release the description for the next episode of "The Big Bang Theory," one thing’s for sure: Sheldon has real, genuine human feelings and he is inlove with Amy Farrah Fowler.
