CD Projekt RED's new adaptation is a far cry from the sword-wielding open world of the Polish developer's The Witcher series. Cyberpunk 2077 is set in a dystopian future surrounded by technology, cybernetics, and warring mega corporations.
Polish developer CD Projekt RED has another adaptation project in their sights. After the success of the critically acclaimed The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, CD Projekt RED have developed a dedicated following within the gaming community. In keeping up with the trend of adapting a richly written story in order to solely focus on game development and bringing an already exceptionally crafted environment to life, CD Projekt RED is currently in development for Cyberpunk 2077, an action RPG based on the popular pen-and-paper RPG of the Cyberpunk series.
CD Projekt RED's new adaptation in Cyberpunk 2077 is based on Cyberpunk 2020, a cyberpunk role playing game set in a dystopian future, riddled with mega corporations dedicated to claiming wealth and power by means of extortion and violence. Society in Cyberpunk 2077 have incorporated serviceable cybernetic enhancements as a norm - some are functional, while others are cosmetic. As more and more technology fuse with the organic man, man then gradually detaches sympathy for fellow man.
The popular Cyberpunk role playing game was first introduced in the late 80s when the dystopian steam punk dark future was a trend brought about by the insurgence and slowly developing technology. The future was a questionable entity that can either make or break the world. With uncertainty looming in the air, the cybernetic dystopian future was in sight of actually happening.
The dark streets of the dystopian future in Cyberpunk 2077 is an homage to the 80s glam and a definitive nod to cybernetic dystopian movies like Blade Runner. The official Cyberpunk 2077 teaser trailer is certainly a nod to the late 80s steam punk genre. CD Projekt RED's teaser trailer is a solid example of the dev's attention to detail, devoting all efforts in establishing a high quality adaptation to an already established environment. The teaser trailer make use of intense, high quality animation with a refreshing blast from the past. The zooming bullets alone are testament to CD Projekt RED's quality assurance and attention to detail. Check out the trailer and get excited for another spectacular game from critically acclaimed devs CD Projekt RED.
