DOOM Closed alpha weekend has ended; gameplay footage reveal intense multiplayer action; closed beta schedule awaiting announcement

DOOM Closed Alpha has just wrapped last Sunday, no doubt with the overwhelming response from fans of the game. A new gameplay trailer was released last week featuring intense multiplayer action reminiscent of the original 90s game. Closed Beta session schedules for the game are awaiting announcement.

DOOM developer id Software and publisher Bethesda Softworks has allowed a test run for the multiplayer mode of the game made available to the public over the weekend announced in a Gameplay Video published by Bethesda Softworks. The science fiction horror game was first introduced to the public in the early 90s pioneering the influence and popularity of the first-person shooter. Since then, DOOM has spawned a catalogue of franchise that include expansions and a movie.

In spring of 2016, DOOM will be made available to the public as a reboot of the original 90s game, bringing the original title to new technologies. The DOOM Closed Alpha was designed to stress test servers of the game in the real gaming world. According to the official DOOM website, the Closed Alpha stress test is different from the Beta version, and is neither a demo nor a representative of the game. It does, however, cover the full extent of the DOOM multiplayer experience.

Prior to the official Closed Alpha stress test schedule, the gaming community was treated to a bunch of images (via GameSpot) featuring the new and improved weapons selection straight out of the Closed Alpha client. The images were screenshots of the weapons available for the scheduled stress test which include the Plasma Rifle, Repeater, Rocket Launcher, Super Shotgun, Vortex Rifle, and Static Cannon. Whether or not the leak was orchestrated, DOOM certainly caught the gaming community's attention.

Closed Beta testing schedule has yet to be announced. In order to join the Closed Beta, pre-ordered Wolfenstein: The New Order game is an explicit requirement. Eligible participants will be informed via email.

DOOM will be released in the Spring of 2016 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One systems
