Notify: An Upcoming Facebook Standalone News Application; To Rival Apple News & Google News

By

Apparently, Facebook is releasing its new standalone news application, the Notify, in the coming days. The upcoming application is said to deliver real-time news to its users, which will rival some news applications, including Apple News, Google News, as well as Twitter's news aggregating service, Moments.

The social media giant is alleged to launch its latest mobile application any time soon, Android Headlines says. If the Financial Times report is to be believed, then Facebook will most probably unveil its Notify application that acts as a news aggregation service and delivers news stories from different media outlets shortly. Also, rumor has it that Facebook has already tied-up and struck deals with numerous media companies, such as Billboard, CBS, The Washington Post, Vogue, Mashable, CNN, and Comedy Central.

Notify is expected to be more organized than Facebook's news feed. All Facebook users may utilize the Notify application to subscribe to their media outlets and it will send them notifications when breaking news are published.

Furthermore, the latest news application provides publishers a new way to circumnavigate ad blockers. Its creation is alleged to bolster mobile user engagement and to produce more sales revenues from additional traffic.

Facebook has currently 1.55 billion active users each month and 1.39 billion of which access the application through mobile. Thus, the launching of the new Notify application will aid the social media giant to widen its profile further than simply being a social network.

Unfortunately, Facebook has not revealed any information and details about its upcoming Notify application yet. However, Notify is believed to feature digital and video news content. It will also include an option to share content on Facebook.

Nonetheless, Notify could be another milestone for Facebook if it succeeds. This news application is a big leap for the company as it joins the battle between Apple and Google. Hence, all that is left to do is to wait for Facebook's official announcement regarding the matter.
