BlackBerry has finally released its first-ever Android-powered smartphone. The BlackBerry Priv is now on sale in Canada, United States, and United Kingdom. Users can also purchase the smartphone from the official BlackBerry website.
John Chen, the Chief Executive Officer and Executive Chairman of BlackBerry, has gladly announced the arrival of the BlackBerry Priv by stating, "I have said many times that BlackBerry would not release an Android smartphone unless we could make it private and secure. I'm pleased to say that day has arrived." He added that the new smartphone provides users with the best security, productivity, and privacy without any compromises.
The Android-powered BlackBerry handset is already available for purchase through online and AT&T retail stores in the US as well as in a number of carrier networks in Canada and UK. Recent reports confirm that the Priv has a physical keyboard, a touch screen, and runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system out of the box.
Under the hood, it is powered by 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 hexa-core chipset with 3GB of RAM. It sports a 5.4-inch OLED Quad HD display, Gorilla Glass 4 protection, 3410mAh battery, and 32GB of internal memory expandable up to 2TB. Camera wise, it boasts a 2-megapixel front snapper and an 18-megapixel rear shooter with optical image stabilization and f/2.2 aperture.
