‘Hocus Pocus 2’ Rumors Debunked by Sarah Jessica Parker; Original cast Members Reunited over Halloween

'Hocus Pocus 2' remains unconfirmed. Better Midler and Kathy Najimy exchanged Twitter shout-outs referencing a sequel but co-actress Sarah Jessica Parker said that she wasn't aware of any plans despite the rumors. Original cast members Vinessa Shaw, Omri Katz and Thora Birch reunited over Halloween.

According to Vulture, Sarah Jessica Parkers shut down rumors of a possible return of the Sanderson sisters on the big screen. After co-stars Bette Midler and Kathy Najimy exchanged Twitter japes regarding a sequel, several speculations have emerged regarding the second installment for 'Hocus Pocus'. Parker said, "I think it's just on the World Wide Web... We've all been exchanging funny, not-reality-based messages to one another. [That's] as much as I know."

Parker, Midler and Najimy portrayed the trio of witches, the Sanderson Sisters, who were unwittingly resurrected into the modern times by teenagers. The original film debuted in 1993 to generally negative reviews. It has since become a beloved cult film.

Unconfirmed or not, the actresses couldn't help but fan the flames of speculation, according to Moviepilot. Midler, who played Winifred "Willie" Sanderson, tweeted that their new film's delay was caused by Disney's difficulty of "finding a virgin" to light the fictional black candle. Najimy shot back an equally hilarious reply saying that Marc Shamain, the musical arranger of Midler's rendition of "I Put A Spell On You", was the actual virgin.

Meanwhile, Vinessa Shaw posted a photograph on her Instagram account @iamvinessashaw during her small reunion with co-stars Omri Katz and Thora Birch over the Halloween weekend. According to Vogue, the three played Allison, Max Dennison and Dani Dennison respectively in the decades-old comedy hit. The photo showed all three child actors all grown up.

'Hocus Pocus 2' is the speculated follow up to director Kenny Ortega's comedy-fantasy film first released on July 16, 2993. The film received generally negative reviews and grossed $46 million over a $28 million budget, according to Box Office Mojo. Despite its lukewarm reception during that time, it went on to become a classic cult film.
