With the success of the second gilm, the Barden Bellas are set to return for Pitch Perfect 3 and Rebel Wilson has revealed new filming details. Elizabeth Banks is set to return to helm the franchise's upcoming installment.

During her recent appearance in The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Wilson confirmed that she will be back for the sequel. As reported by ET Online, the 35 year old actress also revealed that filming is set to begin next year in order to make it for their 2017 release date.

Moreover, according to Variety, Elizabeth Banks will be back once again to helm the third film. Banks is also attached to direct Sony's Charlie's Angels Reboot as well as the big screen iteration of YA adventure novel Red Queen under Universal. However, those projects are currently in development, thus, she is taking Pitch Perfect 3.

Official plot details are currently under wraps, although, as reported by Screen Rant, the film might feature "passing the torch" of the Barden Bellas to the younger batch. The second film concluded with Anna Kendrick's Bella, Wilson's Fat Amy, and Brittany Snow's Chloe as they graduated college.

Claims suggest that they could pass their popular A Cappella group to the hands of Hailee Steinfeld's Emily as they face the world after college. With Emily in the lead, Bella, Chloe, and Chloe might also step in to help her along the way.

The first two movies in the franchise have proved to be hits in the box office. 2012 Pitch Perfect 2 earned $115 million from its $17 million budget, while the recently released Pitch Perfect 2 has outperformed its predecessor earning $285 million from a $29 million budget.

After her work on the previous installments, Kay Canon is also on board to write the screenplay for Pitch Perfect 2. It is currently slated to hit theaters on August 04, 2017. More details are set to be revealed in the coming months.
