Google to design proprietary Android chips to compete with Apple’s signature iPhones

Google seems to be working on its own chipsets intended for Android smartphones. The company appears copying the footsteps of Apple with an interest to make its Android platform be more competitive with Apple's signature iPhones.

According to EWeek, Google was reported anxious that its power to oppose Apple at the high-end of smartphone market could be weakened due for more destruction through the Android world. On the other hand, Google spokeswoman has said in an emailed statement that the company did not pass comment on rumors and supposition.

In the meantime, Richard Windsor, an Edison Investment Research analyst observes the same effort by Google in terms of exerting better control over the code that acquires on Android smartphones. The unreliable and timid quality of the code that being installed on Android phones by device manufacturers is apparently the concern of the company.

A report from Indian Express also stated that Google is currently building its own processors for smartphones. It is alleged that the company hopes that by designing its own chipsets, uniformity would be conveyed to the Android platform and will support its flagships to become a better challenger of Apple's iPhones.

According to Google, its own chip will make the Android updates faster to devices and easier to allow upcoming additions to every other Android smartphone. Due to compatibility issues, it has been announced by Nexus imprint that its year's Nexus flagships will not be available to other fingerprint scanner enabled smartphones. However, Google will reportedly have the ability to bridge this gap through its own custom designed chip.

Thus far, it is yet unknown on which providers Google is having partnership with, nor even any comments if the company will opt to withdraw its relationship with Qualcomm. In addition, it is unsure if the company has a plan in preparing an enterprise version, that is the same to the On Hub router, or something linked with the Pixel C that was just set up, Tech First Post wrote.

The hardware fragmentation across the Android phone world that brings fear to Google as the company could not be able to understand its dream for the mobile operating system and better compete with Apple might be considered as one the key reasons if why making its own chips are now being regarded by Google.
