A few days before the official debut of Marvel’s "Jessica Jones", Netflix has released the second trailer of the series on Tuesday, revealing Jone's love interest, Lucas Cage, and the show's villain, Kilgrave. Meanwhile, it has been reported that Jones’ superhero costume will make an appearance in an upcoming episode.
The second trailer of "Jessica Jones" offered Marvel fans a new angle on the titular character’s (Krysten Ritter) relationship with bartender, Luke Cage (Mike Colter) – while also giving them a closer look into the menacing and mysterious character of David Tennant’s Kilgrave. The Verge previewed the latest teaser in a report.
According to the publication, viewers should prepare themselves for a host of violent scenes delivered by the show’s protagonist. They warned that Jones is a “lapsed detective/functioning alcoholic” who’s “quick to land a knockout blow”.
As for the show’s Big Bad, David Tennant, his performance as Kilgrave is also something fans should look forward to. Per The Independent, the two trailers released are strong pieces of Tennant’s work – describing his portrayal as both “menacing and creepy”.
Series star Erin Moriarty described Tennant’s character as a “really dark and manipulative force”, the actor told TV Guide. He continued that Kilgrave “is probably one of the most powerful villains there is.”
Jessica Jones will also develop a romantic/sexual relationship with Mike Colter’s Luke Cage. The trailer heavily hints that the duo will be exploring this arc on the show’s first run.
In other Jessica Jones news, it has been revealed by TV Guide that the series will allow for the “Jewel” costume to appear via a flashback scene.
On the said flashback, Trish Walker (Rachael Taylor) attempts to convince her BFF Jessica that she needs a “proper costumer and alias” if she’s determined to fight crimes. But since she’s a stubborn character, Jessica will not be seen wearing her iconic white catsuit, the publication adds.
So far, "Jessica Jones" has been receiving positive remarks even before its official debut – a sign that Netflix made the right decision in greenlighting the series. The latest trailer offered new clues about Jessica’s relationship with Mike Colter’s Luke Cage, while showing the sinister motives of David Tennant’s Kilgrave.
Catch the first season of Marvel’s "Jessica Jones" on Friday, Nov. 20 on Netflix.
