The long-awaited Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update is finally available to Samsung Galaxy S5 Active units under AT&T carrier. Though the OS upgrade might not be that significant, there are a few benefits users can avail once they upgrade their handsets.

According to Phones Review, the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active was launched in May 2014 running the Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system, and this handset was previously updated to Android 5.0 Lollipop. Finally, it's getting the Android 5.1.1 as well. This will reportedly be the last update for Lollipop before the jump to Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

The OS update is 640MB in size and has built number LMY47X.G870AUCU2COJ3. The users of Galaxy S5 Active should make sure that they download this upgrade over WiFi or else it will consume their data allowance.

The Android 5.1.1 update brings some of new features and some enhancements. These include a fix for Ultra Power Saving mode for devices using On Device Encryption, Android for Work, some security updates, and the usual handful of bug fixes.

Furthermore, Albany Daily Star Gazette stated the step-by-step procedure of manually updating the Galaxy S5 Active into Android 5.1.1. Users just have to go to Settings > tap System > choose About device > go to Software updated > hit Check for Updated > press OK > a couple of status messages will appear and handlers of the device just have to choose Continue. After these steps, S5 Active users just have to wait for a few minutes to download and install, and after that, they can already enjoy and experience the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop version on their devices.

Tech Times further reported other handsets that were already eligible for Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. This include Nexus devices (Nexus 4, Nexus, 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 7-2013, Nexus 7, Nexus 9 and Nexus 10); Motorola devices (Moto X-2014, Moto X, Moto G-2014, Moto G and Moto E); LG devices (LG G3 and LG G Flex 2); Sony devices (Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact, Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact, Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z1, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z2 Tablet, Xperia Z, Xperia Z1 Compact, Xperia Z Tablet, Xperia ZR, Xperia ZL and Xperia Z Ultra Google Play Edition); and the OnePlus One device.

As the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active under AT&T carrier receives the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update, it is most probable that this handset will also obtain the Android 6.0 Marshmallow soon. But users of this handset are suggested to enjoy the latest update first and wait for further announcements regarding the next OS upgrade.
