Better Call Saul Season 2 Update: AMC Releases 1st Trailer of Season 2; Bob Odenkirk talks Jimmy’s future

By

After months of waiting, AMC has finally heard the fans’ yearning for Jimmy McGill’s presence. Last week, the first official trailer for the Breaking Bad spinoff’s second season has been released. Meanwhile, series star Bob Odenkirk has shared what viewers can expect from Jimmy/Saul’s future as the series progresses.

According to The Verge, the events which unfolded on April’s finale saw Jimmy weighing on his morals, after facing a host of betrayal from his closest friends and loved ones. Moving forward, McGill is expected to get a taste of being on the darker side of the law – a significant storyline which will catapult him in becoming the Saul Goodman we’ve come to love in Breaking Bad.

Going into the second season, the first official trailer heavily shows that Jimmy is another step closer to becoming the shady lawyer that he is. As Carter Matt noted, the brief clip allowed for the audience to see that Jimmy is ready to act on what he desires for himself, and ultimately for the rest of his existence. What’s more, the Mexico-set first sneak peek highlights McGill’s most memorable quotes fans have heard back in season one.

On this note, IGN chatted with series star Bob Odenkirk to ask about Jimmy’s current state of mentality as we follow his journey next year.

According to the actor, the writers have done something inherent about being a human to Jimmy when we see him next season. That said, he revealed that he is not a completely different person and has not dramatically transformed in the new bunch of episodes.

Odenkirk shared how creator Vince Gilligan manifested the importance of change on Breaking Bad, relating that “Walter White didn't really change, he just became more of who he was in his inner core”.

As for his character, he reiterates that he’s still in the process of transforming, adding that “it's happening in a realistic and, I must say, somewhat painful way,”
he teased.

AMC has finally released the first official trailer of Better Call Saul season 2. To this end, fans of the Breaking Bad spinoff should prepare themselves as Jimmy is poised to “transform” in the new bunch of episodes. How far is Jimmy willing to go to break bad and become Saul Goodman? That’s the question we’re gonna have to tune-in for to get concrete answers.

AMC has yet to announce the official premiere date of Better Call Saul season 2.
