Nintendo, during its Livestream, has recently announced the release of Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam. The game is the fifth installment of the Mario & Luigi title which is scheduled to hit the fans' handheld consoles on January 22, 2016, along with its playable characters and the introduction of battle cards to the game.
This role playing game shall be Nintendo's first attempt to combine the characters from the Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi titles, as Venture Beat reports. Basically, the game shall feature characters including Mario, Princess Peach, Bowser, and Toad both in their Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi appearances. It is further said that the game could offer the best games in Bowser's Inside Story.
With Mario & Luigi and Paper Mario in a single game, players could be able to control three characters simultaneously. The Paper Mario characters in the game would also have the skills which their Paper Mario bodies possess, such as slipping through cracks, making copies of themselves, and folding. The game, as International Business Times reports, primarily involves defeating the army of Bowser, solving puzzles, and starting quests, and is amiibo compatible.
In addition, the so-called Battle Cards have been introduced in the new gameplay. Siliconera reports that the Battle Cards are special items which inspire various helpful effects to players. These include better rewards such as extra experience points or additional coins. It can also help improve party member status. On the other hand, it can also induce harmful effects on enemies in the forms of a direct damage, or lowering a foe's level. One can mix 6 amiibo characters of Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Bowser, Toad, and Yoshi to create custom Battle Cards.
Simultaneously play with characters from the Mario & Luigi universe and Paper Mario Universe with Nintendo's Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam. The game shall release on January 22, 2016 exclusive for Nintendo 3DS.
