OnePlus One, OnePlus 2 and OncePlus X to get Android 6.0 Marshmallow

OnePlus has announced that the OnePlus One, OnePlus 2 and OnePlus X will all be getting the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update.

While the phone manufacturer makes no specific promises about the dates yet, the company is confident that it can manage a well-running update for the OnePlus One and OnePlus 2 some time in the first quarter of 2016, says Phone Arena.

As for the OnePlus X, which is the latest phone to be released, the company made no comments except that they are doing their very best to bring Marshmallow to the phone as soon as possible. Rumours indicate that the X might be getting the update earlier than the 2 older models.

The company also further added in Monday's announcement that the community build of OxygenOS for the OnePlus One will be updated "when time allows," according to Gadgets 360. The company's CEO, Carl Pei, further commented in a blog post that the company is not pushing for an API for the current fingerprint implementation in OxygenOS to save focus for the implementation of Android 6.0 for the phones.

However, First Post does say that the API for Marshmallow fingerprint sensors will be very much part of the plan.

In other news, the OxygenOS update for the OnePlus X has been rolled out. The update brings UX bug fixes in the Camera app, improvement to color offset in HDR mode, fixes to OTA stability, optimisations to the systems in low battery state, and general bug fixes and performance improvements.

OnePlus 2 also received an update that brought improvements to the user experience to the preview of the Camera app, performance improvements on app install and launch, customization support for individual icons, fixes to third-party camera apps specifically on the raw files of the photos, a few security patches, fixes to OTA stability and other general bug and performance improvements.
