Chrome Beta Now Available on iOS with 3D Touch Features

Google has silently offered Chrome beta to iOS users. The new version of the browser includes a support function for 3D Touch, which came out along with the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, and comes as a free download through the TestFlight App.

The Mountain View-based tech company has introduced support for the beta version of Google's browser which brings in a number of modifications, says Tech Times. The update makes the testing process available to iPhone and iPad.

Though very similar to Android's version of the test app, the iOS version introduces a new feature - a support for 3D Touch that gives users the options of opening a regular tab, incognito tab or voice search by long pressing the icon. International Business Times also adds that owners of the devices on iOS 9.1 will also find some performance improvements that deliver a smoother web browsing experience.

According to Digital Trends, the test flight app usually allows only up to 2,000 app testers per app. It appears that Google and Apple have made an arrangement to allow a larger group as there seems to be no mentioned limit to how many people can try out the Chrome beta for Apple.

To get the beta version of the Chrome browser for mobile, users must first download the TestFlight in the App Store, then register for an account. After signing up, users can head over to the Chrome beta store download page and click the button that says "Download Chrome Beta." Downloaders will receive a verification email after from TestFlight which will inform the device owner when they can download the app.

Given that this is an app in beta testing phase, no one should expect this to be the most stable browser experience yet, but Google approaching its competitor to allow testing on their devices could only mean that the app could be very close to completion. Google is looking forward to feedback on issues and bugs that iOS users might face.
