"Narcos" director addresses Escobar son accusations; Netflix to release Season 2 on August 26, 2016?

Earlier this month, the son of the fallen Columbian drug lord Pablo Escobar expressed his displeasure on how "Narcos" depicted his father's life. Juan Pablo Escobar claimed that the Netflix series is biased to the DEA side and chose to focus on Columbia's bad side. However, the show's director addressed the issue and had some revelations of his own.

Juan Pablo Escobar sat down for an interview with a Brazilian TV show where he revealed that very important details were left out in the series including how the US government aided Escobar in transporting cocaine into the US.

"First, they should include chapters showing how the [U.S.] Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) charged my dad 'taxes' so he could send cocaine to the U.S. territory via Miami International Airport," detailed Escobar.

The young Escobar further claimed that "Narcos" poorly reflected what really happened and that the series was an insult not only to Columbia's history but also to the thousands of victims of drug trafficking reports Crossmap.

According to the same article, the show's producer and director Jose Padilla claims that the Escobar family wanted family in exchange for information about the late drug kingpin. It was also revealed that Juan Pablo offered to be a consultant for the series but Padilla reportedly declined. Juan Pablo countered to these claims by saying that Padilla expected the Escobars to work for free.

Meanwhile, a Bustle article reports that the death of Escobar will not mean the death of "Narcos" as most fans fear. The series can focus on the DEA's involvement in Columbia post Pablo Escobar. The article says that based on Season 1's established attitude towards Escobar's Robin Hood persona, how the Columbian people responds to his passing could provide a new storyline.

"Narcos" being the success that it has been since its release in August, has been plagued with rumors and speculations since the start of its long hiatus. The recent of these is that its Season 2 will be released on August 26, 2016. Netflix though has not confirmed this as of this time.
