Earlier this month, YG Entertainment released a teaser photo that made 2NE1 fans go crazy. After almost two years of absence, the Kpop group hints their official return with a Twitter photo.
The pic has been one of the biggest hints for the group's comeback. It was a photo with the words "Who's Next? 11.21, 21:00." While the number '21' almost certainly refers to 2NE1, fans' sleuthing skills purport that this Nov. 21, 9 p.m., it will be the official return of their beloved YG group.
But it looks like it's not the complete 2NE1 making a return but only the group's leader, CL. What bittersweet news.
It's has long been planned for 2NE1's Lee Chaerin or CL to make her U.S. solo debut and finally she's been granted the opportunity.
CL just released her new single "Hello Bitches" that serves as the opening track for her upcoming American EP. YG family including G-Dragon, Taeyang and Dara has been helping their self-proclaimed "Baddest Female" member to promote her way to international fame.
Reportedly, CL will be working with American talent manager, Scooter Braun, who also helped rapper Psy to cross the U.S. outlet and things seem to be under extensive preparation to push forward CL's stardom.
So apparently, the teaser Who's Next? is only about CL and not the whole 2NE1 group. On a hopeful and positive point, YG Entertainment CEO, Yang Hyun Suk, did claim that after focusing on CL, fans can anticipate a 2NE1 comeback, as Kpop Starz reported.
But the ways things are going, the chances of 2NE1's comeback is lower compared to possible disbandment.
Aside from the fact that 2NE1's contract with YG ends next year, each of the members are already going their own paths; CL on her solo debut, Dara on her acting career, Minzy on her dance school and Bom still on reflection for her drug issue. Additionally, there is a rumoured new girl group that YG is preparing to debut next year, all the more to think that instead of a comeback, 2NE1's reign could be coming to a close.
Let's see and wait for updates.
