The Android 6.0 Marshmallow firmware update will finally be released to LG G3 handset owners starting next month. The release will start rolling out in Poland first, and then to other regions very soon.
In a report by GSM Arena, a tweet was posted by the LG Executive from Poland, Jaroslaw Bukowski, stating that the mobile operating system update is now in its final stages of testing, and could very well much be ready for launch. Just like the 5.0 Lollipop update last year, the roll out of the firmware will start off at Poland and then go out to other areas of the world soon.
Last year, the LG G3 became the very first device in the world to receive the - back then - latest update, the Android 5.0 Lollipop. This year, that streak was extended as it's 2015 flagship, the LG G4, became the first non-Nexus device to get the latest mobile OS update. Neowin stated that the update for the LG G3 will be following the G4 very soon, and should come anywhere between December 16 and 18.
Phone Arena shares that the LG G3 is said to be receiving an LG-version implementation of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow that will not be too different from that of the LG G4 in terms of user experience. Unfortunately, there have been reports stating that LG is encountering some problems at the moment, as the firmware version for the LG G3 has not been perfectly optimized.
With the launch coming soon, LG is doubling its efforts to make sure that they shoot for a December release of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow firmware OTA release for the G3.
The LG G3 sports a 5.5 inch display with 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution and 538 ppi pixel density. The surface is protected by a layer of Gorilla Glass 3. The chipset is a Qualcomm MSM8974AC Snapdragon 801 that powers a Quad-core 2.5 GHz Krait 400 provision. There are two memory size variations: the 16 GB variation with 2 GB RAM and the 32 GB variation with 3 GB RAM. The handset sells for $599.
