Samsung has created headlines and made heads turn once again. Images of a new Samsung handset, Samsung Galaxy Golden 3 dual display Android flip phone, were leaked giving hints to a newer and more innovative iteration of the company's flip phone series. It is also rumored that this phone might launch in China and likewise in India soon.
Samsung is not new to developing flip phones. And the reason behind this, according to Tech2, is that the company has launched many of these in the past including the Samsung Galaxy Golden 2 in 2013 steeply priced at Rs51,900.00 ($784.34).
Tech2 reported that Samsung was preparing for a successor to their 2013 flip phone series and images of a new 2015 Samsung flip phone model surfaced through TENAA, China's certification board.
In a nutshell, Tech2 enumerated the new Samsung flip phone specs as follows: two (2) 3.9-inch super AMOLED display, resolution of 1280x720 pixels on both screens, 64-bit Exynos chipset, 3GB RAM, and 64GB storage.
The handset will run on Android 5.1 Lollipop and will support 4G bands, as well, Tech2 added.
In other news regarding Samsung Galaxy Golden 3 handset, the hinted flip phone upgrade shares similarities with the Galaxy 6 and Galaxy Note 5. The price tag, too, as noted by Realty Today, will likely fall under the category of high-end phones.
In addition to this, Realty Today reported that the hinted Samsung Galaxy Golden 3 flip phone will be called SM-W2016 upon launch. However, the unit may not be available to other countries including the United States, Australia, and Europe.
Flip phones are very popular. Japan alone had a skyrocketing demand for this phone type reaching 10.6 million units shipped just last year. And demand is continuously growing because of the device's pretty impressive specs and features, Realty Today added.
And finally in the news, leaked images of the hinted Samsung Galaxy Golden 3 continue to surface on TENAA, the Chinese Regulatory Authority.
According to IBN Live, the flip phone will have a design similar to its predecessors, Galaxy Golden (SM-W2014) and Galaxy Golden 2 (SM-W2015).
IBN Live cited that the upcoming Samsung flip phone will only carry the name SM-W2016 and not Samsung Galaxy Golden 3 as rumored. IBN Live also indicated that the clamshell phone will sport a curved rear shell similar to Samsung Se6 and Samsung Note 5.
Two screens adorn the flip phone: one on the outside and another one on the inside against the keypad. The handset also sports a front-facing 5-megapixel camera. And one interesting thing about this rumored handset, as cited by IBN Live, is that this unit will not support QWERTY style keypad. It will support the classic T9 style keypad instead.
Whether or not the flip phone will reach India is very much under speculation but China launch is most likely, IBN Live ended its report.
The hinting of another upcoming Samsung handset is another testimony of Samsung's growing popularity in the mobile phone industry.
Just as everybody is anticipating the arrival of Samsung's flagship, Samsung S7, the company, through leakages from TENAA, goes the extra mile by dropping hints of their yet-to-be-announced handset iteration: clamshell phone.
If Samsung plays their cards right, and they are able to launch both phones with highly successful results, then they might just overtake Apple and regain their title as most popular handset manufacturer in Asia and across the globe.
