New Samsung Budget Phones Announced: Galaxy On5, Galaxy On7 Currently Exclusive to China

Samsung Electronics introduces two new budget phones, Galaxy On5 and Galaxy On7 on an event in China this weekend. The two new units are being released as part of Samsung's drive to maintain their hold on the on the budget phone arena. Competitive specs and features along with other technical details grace the introduction although limited in scope.

In a report from Diane Samson of Digital Times, the new budget phones will sport a 1280x720p TFT display, 1.2 GHz quad-core Exynos 3475 chip, 1.5 GB on-board RAM and 8 GB storage. Samson also mentions that the units can accommodate 128GB additional storage through the microSD card slot.

The Galaxy On comes in at 5-inches while the Galaxy On7 comes in at 5.5-inches, respectively. The cameras, both front and rear, are at 8 megapixels each for the smaller one while 8 megapixels front, 13 megapixels rear, are for the bigger one. Samson likewise cites battery capacity is at 2,600 mAh for the On 5 and 3,000 mAh for the On 7.

In addition to these specs, Samson adds the new budget phones offer 4G LTE connectivity and come with 1.3 GB of apps that users can uninstall without affecting overall system performance.

More into Samsung two new budget phones, both the Galaxy On5 and the Galaxy On7 will have dual SIM capability and carry Android Lollipop version 5.1.1. According to Elsie Buchanan of IUSB Preface, the units will be sporting a Mali-T720 GPU and will be running on a 64-bit octa-core chipset instead.

She likewise mentions that both the Galaxy On5 and On7, respectively, will have an unprecedentedly thin frame and bezel. No other details are provided regarding screen technology employed in any of these two new budget phones.

And finally for the Galaxy On5 and Galaxy On7, it is interesting to know that these two new budget phones have alternative names, although unfamiliar to most users. Emily Henderson of Jew O City states that the Galaxy On5 is likewise referred to as Samsung Galaxy Grand On while the Galaxy On7 as Samsung Galaxy Mega On.

Emily also adds both budget phones offer Bluetooth, GPS, Glonass, Micro-USB, GPRS/EDGE, and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n.

Samsung Electronics' two new budget phones arrive at an opportune time when the company is still reeling from its loss to Apple iPhone 6 in China. This only proves Samsung is striving towards reclaiming their market share and continuing their drive to manufacture budget phones with high-end features to price conscious consumers.

If they do these right, then Samsung is most likely to succeed in rebranding themselves not to mention in reasserting their market presence as well across the globe.

Currently, the new phones are still exclusive in the world's largest market, although both devices were also spotted in an Indian website. Perhaps, Samsung is rolling out Galaxy On5 and On7 in the second largest as well. Either way, there was no official word yet regardong a stateside or international release beyond these two countries.
