With the announcement of Die Hard 6, titled Die Hard: Year One, many have been wondering how Bruce WIllis' John McClane's story will continue after overcoming almost every possible big time villains out. By posting a full page ad, Indie film producer Eric D. Wilkinson pitched his idea on a possible prequel plot which was also recently supported by comic book writer Mark Millar.
Wilkinson recently posted a whole page advertisement in November 20 issue of The Hollywood Reporter addressed his letter to "Bruce Willis, Lorenzo DiBonaventura, Len Wiseman, "and the makers of DIE HARD" stating his idea for the film.
Wilkinson suggested that the film could feature a 60-year old McClane who gets wrongfully incarcerated for the murder of a sex trafficker. Upon getting into prison, a prison riot ensues which was crafted to serve as a cover up for the planned escape of two of the most dangerous terrorists, but somehow, McClane will be back in the life-saving game again and will pin down the new enemies.
Moreover, while Willis admitted to have not read the pitch, he commented on a summary saying, "It seems far away right now', he said. "I don't know", Willis added. However, although Willis seemed unaware of the pitch, comic book writer Mark Millar recently shared his support on the story idea through his website.
As reported by /Film, Millar described Wilkinson's pitch as "a great idea" although he added that the opening might be "a little overly complex". Instead, to make McClane's entry to prison faster, Millar suggested that he could get busted by the Homeland Security for several incidents he was involved in the previous Die Hard films after he comes off from his Christmas flight
"I think the genius of Die-Hard is staying simple and getting him into that situation as quickly as possible. It's a third act spread over THREE acts. If this is any help to anyone they are more than welcome. [Producer] Lorenzo's [di Bonaventura] a pal of mine and producing Jupiter's Legacy so I'm going to shoot this over to him too as I'd love to see that guy get this gig. This is a movie I just want to see", Millar further stated.
Aside from the announcement that the film will be a prequel, plot details for Die Hard 6 are currently unknown, although, as reported by Screen Rant, franchise star Bruce Willis believe that the prequel could work for the franchise.
"It's a very good idea, a really tricky idea, and I'm very happy about it. It's a really cool idea, because it's the origin story. It's gonna happen at the beginning of this. We're going to bounce back and forth.", Willis said.
Aside from Willis, no other actors have been confirmed yet for Die Hard 6. The project is set to be directed by Len Wiseman, which will be produced by Lorenzo Di Bonaventura.
