BlackBerry Vienna specs revealed in leaked photos; Upcoming Android handset cheaper than Priv?

By

Alleged photos of the BlackBerry Vienna have been leaked online, showing the specs of BlackBerry's next Android handset. The BlackBerry Vienna is rumored to have a cheaper price than the Priv.

BlackBerry is following up the Priv with another Android handset - the BlackBerry Vienna. Leaked photos of the rumored BlackBerry Vienna were posted online at the CrackBerry website. The photos revealed the specs that will be likely sported by the upcoming BlackBerry handset.

It can be seen in the leaked images that BlackBerry Vienna will sport a traditional QWERTY keyboard for a sleek design, reported Latin Photos. Unlike the Priv's sliding keyboard, the Vienna will have a fixed keyboard located at the bottom of the phone.

Display-wise, the BlackBerry Vienna is shown to have a screen that could measure 5" and have a lower resolution compared to the Priv. The photos suggest that the smartphone will come equipped with a front-facing camera, front-facing mono speaker, volume controller, microSD and SIM card slot, and power buttons. The body of the Vienna will likely be built with plastic.

Under the hood, it is rumored that the BlackBerry Vienna will be housing mid-range specs. For the camera, the leaked phone mock-ups suggest that the Vienna will have a smaller camera compared to the Priv. The Vienna's camera is expected to be a downgraded version of the Priv camera, as per Pocket-lint.

Overall, the BlackBerry Vienna is said to be a slightly stepped-down Priv in terms of specs and features. It is worth noting that the Priv has a Snapdragon 808 hexa-core chipset , 18 MP main camera with LED flash, and 3 GB of RAM. Like the Priv, the BlackBerry Vienna will likely run an Android-based software.

The BlackBerry Vienna is expected to have a cheaper price tag than its Priv predecessor. Considering it is a mid-range smartphone, it could be priced at around £579. Know Your Mobile reported that BlackBerry could launch the Vienna at the IFA 2016 in January or at the MWC 2016 in either February or March. As of now, there is no official word from BlackBerry when they will release the Android handset.

BlackBerry CEO John Chen said that the company is planning to make more smartphones in the coming years. Previous reports have said that the Priv is the product that could either make or break BlackBerry's smartphone business.
