The return of the Barden Bellas is officially a go, and comedienne actress Rebel Wilson revealed Pitch Perfect 3's release date via Instagram. The cast also reunited recently on stage during the America Music Awards.
As reported by Franchise Herald, Wilson recently posted a photo of her and co-star Anna Kendrick with the date August 04, 2017 under the words "Pitch Perfect 3". "Save the date pitches x", Wilson wrote on the caption.
Aside from Wilson and Kendrick who will be reprising their roles as Fat Amy and Beca respectively, Elizabeth Banks will also be back to direct the third instalment. Plot details are under wraps, but speculations suggest that the film could revolve around Fat Amy, Beca, and Chloe as they face life after college, while also occasionally helping Hailee Steinfeld's Emily as she becomes the new head of the Barden Bellas.
Although the rest of the cast has not been confirmed yet, Bustle reported about the possibility of seeing the Pentatonix return for the third film. The previously played as the Canadian rival of the Bellas during the world championship. While the group admitted that they don't know if they will be back or not, Pentatonix said they would certainly love to return.
Meanwhile, franchise stars Wilson, Kendrick, Steinfeld, and Chrissie Fitt recently reunited during the American Music Awards where they won the best original soundtrack. However, as reported by Seventeen, Kendrick took the attention of many during her speech, which was filled with inside jokes, and many were left puzzled by her statement.
The first two films were considered success, with 2012's Pitch Perfect's $115 million global earnings, and the recent Pitch Perfect 2 that pulled in a much bigger $286 million from its $29 million budget. Filming details for Pitch Perfect 3 are currently under wraps but more details are expected to be revealed soon.
