'Better Call Saul' Season 2 UPDATES: Jimmy McGill 'breaks bad'; Season 2 episodes reduced to 10

"Better Call Saul" Season 2 is on track to transforming lawyer, Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk) to a ruthless criminal lawyer, Saul Goodman. The "Breaking Bad" spin-off's producer teased that the next chapter of Jimmy's journey will take on some big leaps as he finally "breaks bad." Meanwhile, AMC cuts down series episodes from 13 to 10.

The statement "breaks bad" does not mean to take away from the spin-off, it could really be a standalone from its mother series. The first season proved that. It's just a reference to the "moral dilemmas" of both the lead characters who go through somewhat the same moral path. "Better Call Saul" showrunner, Peter Gould, reveals that Jimmy McGill will take surprising turns in Season 2 and viewers will see the unexpected.

It has always been interesting for "Breaking Bad" fans to finally learn the back story of one of the most loved characters in the hit series. As recalled in the pilot episode of the flagship show, Jesse (Aaron Paul) tells Walter White (Bryan Cranston), "Some straight like you... all of a sudden at age, what, 60... he's just gonna break bad? It doesn't compute." While it really doesn't add up for Walter White, perhaps somehow it does for Jimmy McGill. He's an aspiring lawyer who just wants to step out of his older brother's shadow and be the better man. He then learns that Chuck (Michael Mckean), his own brother, had lied to him and has been stabbing him in the back all this time. That definitely turned his world upside down. He looked up to his brother all his life and even took care of him. What he did was despicable for Jimmy.

In the last episode of the first season, the last scene shows Jimmy talking to Mike (Jonathan Banks) about the money they could've taken which was right in front of them but hesitated. This time, he tells Mike that he's not going to let anything stop him next time. No more Mr. Nice Guy for Jimmy. He drives off humming Deep Purple's, "Smoke on the Water," while the last frame showed two yellow lines on the road which means "no crossing." But Jimmy seems to be already on the border, ready to go over that line.

Meanwhile, AMC announced that Season 2 is down to 10 episodes from the 13 originally ordered in its renewal. Peter Gould confirmed that it's no mistake. There's going to be "10 big, big episodes!"

The official release date of "Better Call Saul" has been announced by AMC and is set to premiere 15th of February 2016, 10pm ET.
