HTC has announced that its One A9 smartphone will receive Android operating system (OS) updates 15 days after they reach the Nexus devices. The One A9 is the first non-Nexus handset to launch with the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS.
When the HTC One A9 was revealed, the Taiwanese multinational manufacturer of electronics has promised that the owners of the device will have quicker access to monthly security bug fixes.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow is installed right out of the box to the HTC One A9. And its first update has just rolled out recently through over-the-air, which contained minor battery and camera enhancements alongside security patches.
Meanwhile, One A9 sports a 5-inch Full HD AMOLED display and supports 2.5D Gorilla Glass 4 protection. Under the hood, it is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor with 2GB or 3GB of RAM choices. It also includes either 16GB or 32GB of internal storage that is expandable up to 2TB, fingerprint sensor, and a 2150mAh battery with Quick Change 2.0 support.
Camera wise, it boasts an UltraPixel front snapper and a 13-megapixel rear shooter with autofocus, optical image stabilization, BSI sensor, and sapphire cover lens. Additionally, it comes with different color options, such as Topaz Gold, Opal Silver, Deep Garnet, and Carbon Grey. In terms of connectivity, it supports 3G HSPA+, Bluetooth 4.1, 4G LTE, micro-USB 2.0 port, 3.5mm stereo audio jack, GPS, and WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac.
