Production has started for the next big screen outing of the King of the Apes in the forthcoming Kong: Skull Island. Actor Tom Hiddleston revealed filming details, while new footages from the set have made their way online.
Filming is taking place for the project in Hawaii and as reported by Scified, actor Tom Hiddleston recently shared his experience in the set on his diary in ft.com. "I have stared into the eyes of the ape. A tower of power and majesty, standing like a king.", Hiddleston wrote about his first day of filming.
"In actual fact, the lens of a camera locked on to a frame of my eyes, focused intently and intensely into a deep, dizzying, almost hallucinogenic expanse of green screen, with only my imagination as fuel to the fire.", Hiddleston stated.
"But that's what I love about acting. It is, and will forever be, a childlike act of imagining. Sixteen months from now that single shot will sit side-by-side with a shot of an icon of the cinema, from the days when film as an art form was still in its infancy. King Kong is back.", he added.
Moreover, clips and photos from the set have made their rounds online. As reported by Blastr, video was released by Reel Tours Hawaii on Twitter showing big bones which form to be skeletons of a big creature, which is speculated to be King Kong. Aside from that videos of a group of vintage helicopters were also captured on the set.
The shoot is currently set in Hawaii although, as GameSpot noted, other locations for Kong: Skull Island also include Vietnam and Australia. The film will center on a Hiddleston's character who will join an expedition to the home of the King of the Apes in order to find his brother and a mythical serum.
Kong: Skull Island also stars Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, John Goodman, Jing Tian, Corey Hawkins, John Ortiz, and Toby Kebbell among many others. It is directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts, from screenplay by Max Borenstein, Derek Connolly, John Gatins, and Dan Gilroy. It is slated to hit theaters on March 10, 2017.
