The Incredibles 2 is currently in development and is officially slated for a later 2019 release date. Plot details are currently under wraps, although, several fan-based plot speculations have surfaced for the upcoming project.
More than a decade after the release of the first film in 2004, the next big screen outing of the super family is finally in the works. However, as reported by The Bitbag, the upcoming feature will not hit the theaters anytime as it was moved from its previously reported June 2018 release date, to June 21, 2019.
The Incredibles 2 will be set 5 years after the events of the first film and will feature older versions of Bob, Helen, Violet, Dash, and Jack Jack. Several plot rumors are currently surrounding the sequel with some suggesting the inclusion of Edna Mode into the superhero team as their new member, and Jack Jack as the possible next villain.
Samuel L. Jackson who previously provided the voice for the character of Lucius Best or Frozone is also heavily linked to the project. While his involvement has not been officially sealed yet, Jackson said that his interactions with Bird seemed to indicate that he will also be back in the sequel.
"Every time I run into Brad [Bird, director] he always tells me Frozone is part of what's going on [in the sequel], so I have to believe that. I guess they could be the Incredibles without Frozone, but I think Frozone would be a wonderful addition to what's already there.", Jackson said. He also added that he's curious how the family's youngest member, Jack Jack, has grown to become in the sequel.
Director Brad Bird is back to write and direct the film. As reported by Movie News Guide, the director revealed that the sequel will be a mix of old and new ideas. "I had a lot of ideas for the original 'Incredibles' that I didn't get a chance to use, that I like", he said.
"I have ideas that I wanted to pursue a little bit, and there wasn't enough time in 'Incredibles.' There are new ideas I have, and I think there are enough of those together to make an interesting movie", Bird added. Aside from Bird, /Film reported that the first film's composer, Michael Giacchino will return to score the sequel.
Details about the movie's voice actors are currently scarce, although it is likely that the actors will be recast for the characters of Violet, Dash, and Jack Jack. More details about The Incredibles 2 will be delivered as they are revealed.
