The youngest hero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is set for the upcoming Spider-Man reboot and screenwriters John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein revealed details on what to be expected from the film. Plot details also point to the possible inclusion of Mary Jane Watson and Kraven the Hunter.
As reported by USA Today, Daley and Goldstein admitted that they are still working on the film especially that they were just recently hired. However, they confirmed that the tone will be grounded on a "kid who gets superpowers, and what that means to a geeky outcast kid", Goldstein said.
Goldstein noted that it will feature Peter's long journey into becoming a superhero. Daley also added that the film will spend time on the web-crawler's high school life, and his development with his powers. Goldstein mentioned that it will discuss how having powers does not solve Peter's dilemma's as well as the fact that he has to keep it a secret.
Aside from Tom Holland and Marisa Tomei who are set to play as Spider-Man and Aunt May respectively, no other characters have been officially confirmed to appear in the forthcoming Spider-Man reboot.
However, as reported by Yibada, persistent speculations suggest that Mary Jane might appear in the film especially after director Jon Watts revealed that the 'Ultimate Spider-Man' and 'Spider-Man Loves Mary-Jane' are his inspirations for the feature.
Furthermore, Kraven is also heavily rumored to appear in the film and according to Screen Rant, having Kraven as the main villain will make every fight personal for the villain. He will also help Spidey develop his tactical skills to top to his superhuman abilities such as speed, strength, ability, and reflexes. Aside from that having Kraven the Hunter could also pave the way for the Sinister Six if Marvel and Sony eventually decide to resurrect the project.
Before his solo outing, Spider-Man is slated to debut in the MCU in the upcoming Captain America: Civil War. The upcoming Spider-Man reboot is set to be directed by Jon Watts and currently slated to hit theaters worldwide on July 28, 2017.
