The Vampire Diaries is moving to a new Friday timeslot this winter, the CW has announced. Meanwhile, a crossover episode with its spinoff, The Originals, has been discussed by the show’s executive producer in a recent report.
Fans who are eager to watch the Salvatore and Mikaelson families in another crossover just got a bit of hope. The Vampire Diaries co-showrunner Caroline Dries has weighed-in on a potential new crossover in a recent report from TV Line.
“We’ve been thinking about how to make it work. We have one large kitchen between the two of our offices, so I think we might be able to work something out,” the executive producer commented.
The Original boss, Michael Narducci, also addressed the meeting of the vampires and witches clan – citing that TVD is “flashing forward” while the spinoff is currently airing in the present which means that the odds for a crossover doesn’t “necessarily lend itself to an easy merger of storyline.”
However, he promises that viewers will see the mentioned arcs in both shows which in the future “might have some more potential for common ground,” he explained.
In September of last year, Nina Dobrev crossed the territory of The Originals where she played a doppleganger of Tatia. She was a woman from the Petrova clan who captured the hearts of both Niklaus and Elijah in the past.
In other news, The Vampire Diaries has been bumped to air on Friday at 9/8c beginning on January 29th. The CW has announced the switch in schedule via Deadline on Monday. Its spinoff, will also move the same night at 8/7c.
Moving forward, the next episode will mark a game-changing arc for Caroline and Stefan. On the heels of Valerie’s discovery of a major revelation, Caroline will be forced to face a new reality even if it means ultimately destroying her relationship with Stefan.
Details of the episode titled “Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me” have been shared by The Futon Critic.
