Android 6.0 Marshmallow Comes to the Moto X Style

Motorola has started rolling out a firmware update for Android 6.0 Marshmallow to the Moto X Style smartphone.

Tech Times reports that the update has started in India, and is coming out in phases which users can check if it is now available for their phone by checking out Settings. The update fulfils a promise made by David Schuster, a senior director at Motorola, on a post in his Google Plus account in November 12 that the 2015 Moto X Style (3rd Gen) in India and the 2014 Moto X (2nd Gen) in Brazil will get the Marshmallow update in the coming weeks.

Motorola released one of their latest smartphones - the Moto X Style - October this year with the Android 5.1 Lollipop already installed into the phone when in the box. The upgrade of firmware will bring the much anticipated Marshmallow features, such as the Doze mode, app standby, expandable storage, do not disturb, Google Now on Tap, direct share and more.

However, Indian Express notes that along with the update will be the removal of Moto Assist, which will be replaced by Marshmallow's 'Do Not Disturb' feature. Motorola Migrate is also removed in the update firmware as Android M enhances support for backing up user data.

One feature that Moto X Style owners can look forward to with the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update is the ability to run and use apps moved into SD cards. There will also be better controls to the volume of ringtones, media and alarm, says Latinos Post.

The Moto X Style sports a 5.7 inch display with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels. It is run on a Qualcomm MSM8992 Snapdragon 808 with a Dual-core 1.8 GHz Cortex-A57 & quad-core 1.44 GHz Cortex-A53 CPU. Built-in internal memory can either be 16 GB, 32 GB or 64 GB depending on the model.

When installing the new firmware update, its always important to remember to have at least 50% of the battery life and reliable WiFi connection.
