The Android 6.0 Marshmallow was released a few months ago, and a lot of smartphone users are now enjoying the newest update by Google. Owners of the devices that are not eligible with the Android 6.0 firmware though, doesn't have to worry that much as the CyanogenMod 13 custom ROM has started rolling out the Marshmallow OS.
According to Android Police, CyanogenMod recently announced the first nightly builds of CyanogenMod 13 (CM13) running Android Marshmallow 6.0. This firmware is reported to be rolled out on a handful of handsets. The Nightly builds are not as bug-free as snapshot releases, but they are basically reliable enough to attract the users to try.
The first snapshot builds of CM12.1 has been made available early September while the version of CM13 is expected to arrive sometime in January. The users that are already running snapshots of CM12.1 are recommended to wait until then to upgrade to CM13. Otherwise, owners of the units running on nightly builds are free to manually flash the update normally and those currently running an unofficial build of CM13 should do a full factory wipe before doing so.
International Business Times reports that OnePlus One owners are lucky enough as the CyanogenMod team has rolled out the latest Android 6.0 based CyanogenMod 13 (CM13) Nightly ROM on the unit. Users of the handset could enjoy the visually tweaked UI enhancements and updated Theme Engine with the revamped CM13 build for OnePlus One. This also promises a complete Marshmallow experience on a custom ROM.
Latinos Post cited other handsets that are fortunate to receive the CyanogenMod 13 custom ROM of Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The list includes the LG G4, Nexus 7 (2013), Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4, LG G3 from Verizon, LG GPad 7.0, and Moto X (2014). Moreover, the willing users can go to the official downloads page to acquire the build.
With the CyanogenMod 13 nightly build rolling out on a handful of devices, it is expected that more and more devices will be eligible for the firmware. The users of the smartphones that will not receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow should keep an eye for further announcement as their gadgets may also be upgraded to Marshmallow via CyanogenMod 13 soon.
