The DC Universe is set to debut its mystical heroes in the upcoming Justice League Dark and while Guillermo del Toro's exit has affected the project, a shortlist of possible director and actors have been revealed.
DCEU will be busy with the big screen showdown of two of its most iconic heroes in Batman v Superman and its group of anti-villains working together in Suicide Squad. However, as reported by Comics Alliance, the cinematic universe is set to expand further to its mystical side with the upcoming debut of Constantine, Zatanna, Swamp Thing, The Demon, Deadman, and Madame Xanadu in Justice League Dark.
While no actors and director have officially signed on the film, Blastr reported that Warner Bros is already eyeing on several actors for the main roles with Colin Farrell on top of the list to play as the magician, con-man, Constantine.
Meanwhile Ron Perlman is rumored to play as Swamp Thing, with Ewan McGregor for Jason Blood/The Demon, and Monica Bellucci for sorceress Madame Xanadu. Although no actors have been linked for Zatanna and Deadman as of yet., the studio is reportedly looking for a comedic actor for the role of Deadman while a black or hispanic actress is sought for Zatanna.
For Swamp Thing's arch-nemesis and big villain in the film, Anton Arcane, /Film reported that 'Bloodline' actor Ben Mendelsohn is currently on top of the list. Moreover, while some are still hoping for del Toro's return in the directorial position, it is widely speculated that Evil Dead's Fede Alvarez is currently being considered to direct although, Aharon Keshales and Navot Papushado are also on the list as well.
Warner Bros is reported to be pushing for a 2016 filming date for the project. Plot details for Justice League Dark are currently under wraps but more details are expected to be revealed when production progress.
