A contest open for anyone who wishes to be on set as an ape extra for the upcoming War for the Planet of the Apes. Moreover, the new video released for the competition also provided the first behind the scenes look.

As reported by Movie News Guide, the production is looking for someone in the crowd who can give their best shot at playing as an ape in the upcoming sequel. The mechanics are quite simple as it only requires the participant's 30-second video performance as an ape as well as a filled-out form to be found in ApesContest.com.

The chosen winner will fly to the set and get to wear the cast's suit. Moreover, during the video for the contest, footages from behind the scenes were also featured. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the footage featured a glimpse of the movie's behind the scenes which suggest that the clash between apes and humans are soon to intensify.

The video showed clips of the military troops as they move to the California Redwoods where the apes established their home. It also featured soldiers firing at unseen apes which will likely be added in the post-production through CGI.

Plot details for War for the Planet of the Apes have not been revealed, although, as Geek reported, the previous film ended with Malcolm giving Caesar a warning about military reinforcements coming to the apes and the latter holding down the ape settlements outside San Francisco and also within the city.

Matt Reeves is sitting in the director's chair once again for the film. Andy Serkis is also back as Caesar, along with Woody Harrelson, Judy Greer, and Steve Zahn. The first two instalments in the franchise were box office successes with Dawn of the Planet of the Apes' $710 million worldwide earnings, and Rise of the Planet of the Apes' $481 million. The forthcoming War of the Planet of the Apes is currently slated to hit theaters on July 14, 2017.
