Tom Holland is set to play as the teenager version of the web-slinging hero in the upcoming Spider-Man movie. He recently revealed his thoughts about playing as the titular hero and his preparation for the film.
After two Spider-Man performances in the past decade and a half, fans are now setting their sights on Holland and how he will give justice to the character in the big screen. During his promotion for In the Heart of the Sea, Holland was able to reveal thoughts about the playing the character.
"It's very daunting, because obviously the first two guys were so great and they did such fantastic performances, so I've got quite a lot to follow", Holland said to IGN. He also added that not much details have been revealed to him about the film.
Moreover, as reported by Comic Book Movie, the 19-year old actor said that he looks up to Andrew Garfield's portrayal of the character and added that he might copy a thing or two from his performance.
"He did such a good job as Peter Parker and it's really difficult not to copy him because what he did was so perfect and obviously there are going to be things that I might steal but I hope we get to meet and even work together in the future.", Holland said about Garfield.
Holland further revealed that he has been doing his research about the character through comics. He also added that he has been doing unusual exercises as well as part of his physical training. "I went to this gym yesterday where they strap electric belts on you and you do exercise whilst being electrocuted. It's a really strange experience. It's like a dull tingling but I'm definitely feeling it today. I have to do 20 minutes once a week. Marvel are quite against us doing our own stunts [though].", Holland said.
Meanwhile, as reported by Master Herald, Holland's In the Heart of the Sea co-star and soon to be fellow MCU actor, Chris Hemsworth, said that he thinks Holland is a very good fit for the Spider-Man movie and there is nothing that fans should be worried about.
According to Hemsworth, Holland is an athlete and so he is not new to performing physically demanding activities. He said that he is aware of the expectations for the character and he is confident that an experienced actor such as Holland will be able to deliver well.
Aside from Holland, Marisa Tomei is also on board for the upcoming Spider-Man movie as Aunt May. The film is set to be directed by Jon Watts from screenplay by John Francis Daley and Jonathan M. Goldstein. It is set to hit theaters on July 28, 2017.
