OnePlus is known to be running its handsets on the company's home grown operating system but now, the Chinese tech giant is expected to deliver Android 6.0 Marshmallow to OnePlus One, OnePlus 2 and OnePlus X.
Vine Report, said on its article that OnePlus has confirmed through its forums that the three smartphones are set to obtain the new Android Marshmallow 6.0. However, the company does not want to make any promises for a release date as of the moment.
The OnePlus One is expected to obtain its update when Cyanogen OS gets updated to Android Marshmallow 6.0. Based on the reports, this might happen sometime around the first quarter of 2016. A community build of the Oxygen OS is available for the OnePlus One, but the handset will also be updated sooner or later.
Furthermore, Yibada stated that OnePlus 2 will also receive the update in the first quarter of 2016 and this will add the Marshmallow API new standard for fingerprint sensor.
Carl Pel, co- founder of One Plus stated that in spite of requests to create an API for the implementation of the current fingerprint in OxygenOS, the company has decided against it.
NDTV Gadgets added that the decision of the company to oppose the request to create an API for fingerprint was because the company will be switching over to the standard Android M implementation soon. It further reported that the OnePlus has been working hard to bring the Marshmallow update to its OnePlus X handset.
The OnePlus 2 and OnePlus X users will be receiving the OxygenOS 2.1.2 OTA (over-the-air) update. The company, however, noted that the update rollout will be gradual so it will take some time to reach all users.
The OyxgenOS 2.1.2 update will bring enhancements for the OnePlus 2, including an improved UX for preview in Camera and performance improvements on app install and launch. The device will also have an individual icon customization support, fixes for raw format on third-party camera apps, and Russian and Turkish language support.
The OnePlus 2 will also experience a developed lock screen wallpaper support, more security patches, bug fixes to System Update to improve OTA stability, and performance improvements.
On the other hand, the OxygenOS update for the OnePlus X will bring UX bug fixes in the Camera app and improvement to color offset in HDR mode. There will also be bug fixes to System Update to improve OTA stability.
Apart from the other well-known smartphone makers, the OnePlus has also promised to deliver the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to its handsets. The OnePlus One, OnePlus 2 and OnePlus X users will just have to keep an eye until the company confirms the release date.
