By

CyanogenMod 13 nightly builds based on the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update are now rolling out on certain smartphones and tablets. Steps and details on how to install the custom ROM were recently revealed.

According to AmeriPublications, the CyanogenMod team has announced the availability of the first nightly builds of CyanogenMod 13 that is based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. This leads other Android smartphone users of newer phones like the HTC One M9, M8, and M7 wonder when their handsets will obtain the personal Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

On the other hand, if the users are already running an unofficial build from the source code, the developers highly recommend that they should do a full wipe before switching over to the official nightlies. This is because they cannot guarantee an upgrade compatibility. The users will have to download the custom ROM and Google App zip files to their computer and copy them to their mobile device.

In addition, if the users are coming from official CM 12.1 nightlies, they can upgrade right away to the official CM 13 nightlies on these devices. Later Cyanogen will be releasing snapshots of CyanogenMod 13, which include vital bug fixes in and new features.

Rapid News Network cited some of the new features that the installation of the CyanogenMod 13 nightly builds bring. One is the Fingerprint sensor and Multi-Window support to Android devices. The button that changes from rear-facing to front facing cam is also now placed beside the shutter button.

Furthermore, The Voice Herald added that these nightly builds releases are inherently buggy and unstable. But for those who desire the Marshmallow update, this may be a good way for them to experience the update. The update process will also likely to wipe out the device's entire memory.

The CyanogenMod 13 nightly builds installation really requires knowledge on software so those who are interested are advised to seek help from experts to avoid messing up their handsets.
