Apple is reportedly planning to unveil a 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air in the Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) in 2016.
The Inquirer News makes the report that a Taiwan News company, which has heard from "supply chain sources," that Apple will be showcasing a thinner MacBook Air with a new size - 15-inches. This is probably in response with the release of the much bigger iPad Pro, and the fear that it would eat up the in-house netbook version of Apple.
According to International Business Times, the MacBook Air has not seen some major redesigns since 2010 aside from some minor spec upgrades. If the 11-inch MacBook Air will be phased out, it will probably be because of the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, that promises the same power, performance and portability that the 11-inch Air can provide.
The 2016 edition of the MacBook Air is expected to pack new battery enclosures, cooling modules, panels and more into a revamped metal chassis. The 2016 Air will most probably also be much thinner than the current one, says Apple Insider.
Other specs and features that Apple fans are hoping to see, and will most probably be happening, are the Force Touch trackpad that debuted on Apple's 12-inch MacBook, and a USB Type-C post. Users are also hoping to see a Gold colour option.
Apple is yet to show other upcoming products such as the iPhone 6c, which users are hoping to see in the first half of 2016, and the iPhone 7 to debut in the Fall of next year. The rumoured iPhones also promise some great specs including faster and stronger processors, thinner bodies and better cameras.
Apple's sales in the PC market are fairing better than last year as the third quarter saw 5.6 million Mac desktops go out. That number is 1.5 percent higher than the 5.5 million units that last year's third quarter saw.
The reports of the MacBook Air revelation in the next WWDC follows news that the MacBook Air would be phased out to give way to the new iPad Pro, which analysts are saying could eat up the MacBook Air market.
