Nexus 7 [2016] Release Rumors Surface; Huawei to Replace ASUS in Creating Google's All-New Budget Friendly Tablet

With the success of its previous versions released in 2012 and 2013, various speculations suggest that Google's Nexus 7 [2016] might also be released again sometime next year. However, unlike its previous versions, it might no longer be developed by ASUS.

Google's release of budget-friendly tablets with Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 alongside their line of phones during the 2012 were greeted with good reception from critics. As reported by Digital Trends, Nexus 7 in particular was subsequently refreshed during 2013 before Google moved on to release their premium tablet Nexus 9 in 2014.

Moreover, Yibada reported that Google might be eyeing to release the product again next year after an alleged tipster revealed in the Chinese microblogging platform, Weibo, that Google is currently working on an upgraded version of the tablet which is rumored to be launched some time in 2016.

While the specs are currently unknown, rumors suggest that it will feature the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS and is likely to retain its 7-inch size. However, according to Latin Post, although the previous 2012 and 2013 versions of the gadget were developed by ASUS, Google's successful partnership with Huawei with their recent Nexus 6P might be an indication that the the internet service company will choose to stick with their new partner instead of going back to their previous OEM partner.

But it can't also be denied that both releases of Nexus 7 earned the company praises, thus, it would be interesting to see which company will get the project. Details about its price have not been released yet but it is rumored to stay close to its previous $229 for 16GB variant and $269 for the 32GB variant.

The official release of the upcoming Nexus 7 [2016] is still unknown, although its launching is rumored to take place during the Google I/O Conference which is likely to happen sometime in June to August.
